Taragon is a beautiful little sheep who often gets overlooked when I am taking photos simply beacuse she is very quiet and not at all pushy like some of the bigger characters in the flock. She is a little timid at times but she does love a good scratch and will often come over to me in the field. Taragon is a descendant of some of my origional sheep who were Shetland cross Welsh Mountain. When I bought my first Shetland ewes some of them had lambs at foot who had been fathered by a Welsh Mountain ram who had broken in to their fields and pushed the Shetland ram out. Taragon’s grandmother Millie was one of these Welsh x Shetland lambs. Her mum Nagi was fathered by a Jacob x Shetland ram and so Taragon had a little bit of everything in her genes. Taragon was born at a time when I used to breed the sheep a lot and sell lambs on as pets or for breeding.. Things have changed an awful lot since then and very much for the better. We don’t breed many sheep these days and are very mindful about bringing new life into the world.. Taragon has had 3 lambs in her youth all boys and all are now living elswhere as pets I have kept in contact with one of their owners and it has been lovely to hear how the boys are doing. Perhaps Taragon will have another lamb at some point or perhaps not either way she has a home for life here with her woolley friends and family.
