I bought Jemima on the 28th September 2019 along with her siblings Florence, Jasmine, Tatty and Bruno. They all came from a well-known fibre flock in South Wales and share the same dad who is a Coloured Leicester longwool ram called Kennedy. I had dreamt of adding some Coloured Leicester Longwools to the flock and then I saw these beautiful crosses that had been bred for fibre and I decided to spend some of my savings on buying a couple of ewe lambs and a ram lamb. It was impossible to pick out just two ewe lambs I could of easily come home with 10 or more. I deliberated for ages who to choose and finally picked two out. Then I noticed Jemima’s sweet face amongst the ewe lambs I hadn’t picked… So Jemima came home too. She was the first of the bunch to have enough confidence and curiosity to come over for a fuss. Like her half-sisters she has grown into a very gentle friendly sheep who is always one of the first to come over in the field. Jemima grew the most magnificent fleece over the winter of 2019/2020. And the colour has changed so much since I first brought her home. Her fleece has grown back a beautiful pale cream with the odd grey patches since she was shorn. I am planning to make a felted fleece rug with Jemima’s special first fleece and the proceed’s from it’s sale will quite literally of paid to bring Jemima and her half-siblings here.
