Beautiful little Blossom is a first cross Soay x Shetland sheep. She was born and bred here. Her mum was a Shetland sheep called Sooty who was one of the much loved original Shetland sheep that I bought many years ago. Sadly in 2018 Sooty had to be put to sleep she was very elderly and had an incurable tumor. Sooty had several lambs over the years some of whom still live here and one of those is the last lamb she had before she retired – Blossom. Blossom has had 3 lambs herself including unplanned twins Aconite and Elliot who were fathered by Sven on one of his breakouts. All of Blossoms children now live in other homes, Elliot lives with a friend just down the lane with some of his brothers and Aconite lives near Caernarfon with her half-sister Chickpea and a herd of goats. Blossom has always been a friendly little sheep and she became even friendlier when she had Aconite and Elliot. She really is very sweet just like her late mum. In 2018 Blossom’s fleece was wet felted into a very sweet fleece rug this was actually the first-ever felted fleece that I made to sell. Blossom has managed to trash her subsequent fleeces by foraging through gorse and brambles in the winter making them unsuitable for felted fleeces but they have not been wasted. Some of her beautiful locks and fleece have been used to create needle felted sheep and provide backing wool for other rugs making Blossom an important member and contributor to the future of the flock.
