Bruno came here on the 28th September 2019 as a ram lamb along with his half-sisters Jasmine, Florence, Jemima and Tatty. They all came from the same fibre flock in South Wales and share the same dad who is a Coloured Leicester longwool ram called Kennedy. I had dreamt of adding some Coloured Leicester Longwools to the flock for a while but couldn’t find any even remotely local to us and then in 2019 I saw these beautiful crosses that had been bred for fibre and decided to spend some of my savings on a couple of ewe lambs and a ram lamb. Inevitably I came back with more sheep than intended but it was just impossible to choose between them… It is a sad but true fact that Bruno’s brothers would end up as someone’s dinner along with other male lambs on the farm he came from but fate had something different in store for him when I met him and he found his way here where he has since become a dad to 4 adorable lambs. I do not judge other peoples beliefs or decisions or choices but I do feel glad that I was able to give Bruno a chance at a lovely long life, I think it was just meant to be. Bruno was completely unhandled when he came here but being friendly is in his breed genetics and his dad was a particularly good-natured friendly ram too I am told. Bruno seems to of inherited his dads kind friendly nature and really loves a fuss. I am not certain if Bruno will remain an entire ram forever. He may at some point be castrated so he can spend his days grazing with his family and growing a beautiful fleece each year. Talking of his fleece, Bruno’s fleece reminds me of a Coloured Mule meets Gotland type wool. It is the most gorgeous rich brown and grey colour and lovely to work with. Bruno’s 2nd shear fleece was made into a big beautiful felted fleece rug which will help to pay for food and care for the flock throughout the year.
