Magic was born here in 2012 the same year as Poppy, Holly, and Harriet. They grew up together and to this day they are all firm friends. Ever since she was a lamb Magic has always been a very friendly sheep. When she was 2 years old she had her own lambs. Although her lambs did fine in the end, Magic really wasn’t the best mum and so that was the first and last time Magic had lambs. Being a mum might not be Magic’s speciality but growing wool most certainly is. Magic has a dual-coated fleece that is a joy to work with. The undercoat is very soft and fine and her fleece lends itself very well to weaving and needle felting. She gives me a huge fleece each year which I have turned into a variety of things. I often use her wool to create the bodies of my needle felted bumble bees. And in March 2020 Magic’s fleece was chosen by a customer to be used to commission 3 peg loom cushions. As big as Magic’s fleece is one fleece alone was nowhere near enough to make 3 large cushions but luckily I had 2 years worth of Magic wool and some similar from her flock mates that I was able to use to complete the project. It didn’t quite end there as I was also asked to make a needle felted Magic sheep to match the cushions and a wet felted Magic fleece rug and Gem’s 2019 fleece rug also joined the set. This was certainly the most Magical commission I have worked on to date. And there is more as the same couple have requested Magic and Gem’s fleeces from 2020 to make more matching items. I can’t express enough gratitude for the support of people especially with commissions like this. I am sure Magic is very grateful too if only she knew she has helped to buy if food for herself and the whole flock for the winter months.
