Marmalade was one of triplet girls born to Minnie on the 16th of March 2014. These were Minnie’s last lambs before she retired. Marmalade’s sisters were called Jam and Honey. I wanted to keep the 3 of them here with Minnie but unfortunately, I was not in a position financially to keep so many sheep back them. So Jam and Honey went to new homes. Jam now lives on a smallholding with a friend locally and Honey went to a pet home with some other lambs. Marmalade stayed here with her mum Minnie. Marmalade has never had lambs of her own. In the winter of 2019/2020, she spent some time with one of our rams – Smartie but no lambs resulted from that meeting. Whether she has lambs or not doesn’t really matter to me. Though it would be nice to have a mini Marmalade to carry on her beautiful genes within the flock one day. Marmalade is a 3rd generation crossbreed. Her family tree comprises mostly Jacob x Shetland sheep but her dad was also 1/2 Soay sheep making Marmalade a real mix. She has always been a very friendly sheep and has learned some bad habits like pestering and jumping up for food. Marmalade has a very nice spinning fleece. I have sold her fleece to hand spinners and crafters in the past but never actually worked with her fleece myself. However, I still have most of her 2019 fleece and her 2020 fleece so I plan to make something with those at some point. Watch this space.
