Minnie is one of our eldest flock members and one of the first lambs to be born here back in 2009. Her mum was the late Sooty who is a bit of a legend here. Minnie has such a story to tell. She has had quite a lot of lambs in her early years having had triplets on 2 separate occasions. She has always been a wonderful mum and had such wonderful lambs. Two of her daughters Muffin and Marmalade still live here. Minnies other lambs all went to lovely homes some joined fiber flocks and a school farm. Minnie herself has actually left here to join other flocks on 2 separate occasions but after her last return it was obvious she was destined to be here for her retirement and I am delighted to have her back where she belongs. It was quite a few years ago that I and Minnie parted ways for the first time when Minnie left with Currant and Grettle. I gave them in goodwill to what I thought was a good home during a difficult time in my life but 2 years later I saw them advertised for sale they looked in a very poor state and were also pregnant. I managed to buy the 3 of them back. Minnie was just skin and bones and half the sheep she used to be. But after lots of tlc she had a big healthy lamb a few months later and regained her former health and weight. Then a year or so later a local family were looking for a few sheep to help keep the grass down on their little paddock. This time I knew for certain this was a very good home being offered with a lovely family and so Minnie was one of a handful of sheep who went to live there. As it turns out they were only there less than a year before the family had to sell their home and move away so Minnie and friends came back here and she will remain here now till the end of her days enjoying her retirement with the rest of the flock. Minnie has a beautiful grey fleece. She was actually born jet black but her fleece has turned a pretty lavender grey colour over the years. Her fleece is lovely to spin and I have sold it as a raw fleece to hand spinners in the past. I’ve also used some for felting and I have saved her last 2 fleeces to create something special with. I’m just not quite decided what to create yet.
