Cute Felt Mouse Bookmark

These cute felt mouse bookmarks are carefully handcrafted from 100% natural wool from our flock every part of them including the long spun tails, eyes and whiskers are wool. Each little mouse is made by me at our home in wild North Wales using natural wool from my flock. They will make wonderful quirky gifts for book lovers. I love books and I love making needle felted mice so I decided to combine the two! Each mouse has a long braided tail which is made from handspun wool yarn that I have spun and dyed myself.. Buying one of these bookmarks is a great way to support and feed my flock this winter 🙂 More details on each bookmark below.

There are two mice bookmarks to choose from. One is a lovely mousey grey colour and the other is a lovely chocolate brown. Their long tails are the actual bookmark, you can sandwich their tails between the book pages and the mouse will happily sit upon the book cover. They make wonderful unique special gifts and each will come wrapped up snuggly in a little cardboard box.

Size: The mice themselves measure approx 6-7cm length. Total length with their tails is approx 45cm.

These felted wool mouse figurines are made by a process called needle felting. Needle felting is a way of working and sculpting dry wool using special barbed needles. Repeated stabbing of the wool using these special needled causes the fibers to interlock and tangle and if you work it long enough you end up with a firm solid piece of felted wool.

The inspiration for these felted wool mouse figurines came from the real little things. Living in the countryside in an old stone house we are very close to nature and so hearing mice within the old stone walls and attic at night is something that happens from time to time. One winter though I was sat up late needle felting when a mouse ran across my feet! This was the first time we ever had mice find a way from within the walls into the home. More mice naturally followed and caused us some trouble for a little while. That was when I had the inspiration to start making needle-felted mice – and I can assure you these little critters are just as sweet and far less messy than their real-life counterparts!

All my needle-felted items are very solidly felted with carefully added details. They are not flimsy soft needle felting they are worked until the felt is hard and firm. Crafted with a lot of love and care, never rushed and made properly they take a surprising amount of time to make and that’s not even including the time spent shearing the sheep, washing the wool, carding, dyeing or spinning the little tails!

Please note – This is NOT a toy. It has been created for display and decoration purposes only. It is made from small needle felted wool pieces and hairy textured wool and so could pose a hazard for babies or small children. Please DO NOT give to children under 3 years old.

A lot of time, care and love goes into all my items they are all individually made one at a time my hands and sheep – from caring for and shearing the sheep, washing the wool and crafting an item to the packaging and posting – hand (and sheep) made in the truest sense of the word.

Post Packaging In an effort to be more eco-friendly most of the outer post packaging I send items in is reused aka recycled packaging that we have received parcels in ourselves or that has been gifted to me to put to good use.

OVERSEAS BUYERS I do ship worldwide but the shop is currently set to UK customers only. Please contact me if you are overseas and I will arrange the purchase for you. You will incur an extra postage charge which may vary depending on location, plus any taxes or customs charges your country places upon the parcel.

RETURNS If you are unhappy with your item please contact me within 5 days of receiving it. All items must be returned in their original unused condition and buyer pays return postage.

We keep a well-loved, high welfare flock of pet and rescue sheep on the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales. Our sheep are a part of the family and each is known by name. All our wool and makes are vegetarian-friendly as we do not breed or sell sheep for the meat market and our sheep live out their natural lives with us. I am a full-time mum and shepherdess. In my (none existent!) free time I make things from wool from the sheep in order to sustain them.
