Handcrafted Needle Felted Valais Blacknose Sheep
Beautiful miniature Valais Blacknose sheep. Made by hand from start to finish. The body is solid wool which has needle felted and once the desired shape is achieved natural wool locks are individually needle felted in to give this chap a wonderful dreamy curly coat. All his facial features and ears are very carefully needle felted in and handmade wooden legs that are made from wood gathered about the farm are then attached with wool and a tiny amount of glue. Lastly the wire based horns are threaded through and wrapped with wool. The horns can be gently bent to manipulate the shape. This little sheep is free standing and looks super on a shelf or mantle piece. He really is the perfect gift for any Valais Blacknose fan or sheep fan in general. The wool used comes from my own flock of sheep and is all natural colours except for a small amount of colour used in the horns and eyes which has been handdyed. This particular Valais sheep has been decorated with curly white/cream wool locks from our lovely Wensleydale sheep Hagrid who is also in the photos. The body base is made with wool from another of the flock – Xena.
Size – This litte Valais Blacknose sheep measures approx 19cm from his bum to nose and 13-14 cm in height to the top of his head.
All my sheep are very solidly felted with carefully added details. As such, each sheep can take anywhere between 6 – 16 hours to make. That is not including the time spent shearing the sheep, washing the wool, carding, dyeing or spinning the little mouse tails! They really are a labour of love and essentially I don’t charge for my own time making them. The preceeds from the sale from all my items go directly back into the flock to keep them well fed and healthy.
Please note – This is NOT a toy. It has been created for display and decoration purposes only. It’s horn’s contain wire, the wooden legs are glued in and the sheep is made from small needle felted pieces and hairy textured wool needle felted in which could be pulled off by little hands and so could pose a hazard for babies or small children.

A lot of time, care and love go into all my items they are all individually made one at a time by just 1 pair of hands – from caring for and shearing the sheep, washing the wool and crafting an item to the packaging and posting – handmade in the truest sense of the word.

We keep a well-loved, high welfare flock of pet and rescue sheep on the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales. Our sheep are a part of the family and each is known by name. All our wool and makes are vegetarian-friendly as we do not breed or sell sheep for the meat market and our sheep live out their natural lives with us. I am a full-time mum and shepherdess. In my (none existent!) free time I make things from wool from the sheep in order to sustain them.
