Handmade Needle Felted Reindeer Decoration ‘Comet’
This sweet little needle felted white reindeer named ‘Comet’ is hand-crafted from 100% wool from the flock. Every little detail, his eyes, ears and tail are carefully made from wool at our farm by my own hands. He has little wooden legs which I made myself from driftwood that I collected from Nant Gwythern beach. This reindeer is a perfect unique gift and rustic Christmas decoration for any home. I currently have him hanging from a tree in my workshop where he looks very sweet and he would grace any tree as a beautiful Christmas decoration. He is completely natural, biodegradable, kind to sheep and the planet.
This listing is for the exact deer in the photos. He is presented in a simple card gift box – a perfect present for someone or perhaps for yourself!
The little deer is made from all-natural wool, the only parts which are not wool from my flock are the jute twine that he hangs from, his little wooden legs and wire in his antlers. The main wool used in his creation comes from a sheep called Alice who has beautiful shiny white wool which I often use for creating Unicorns and sometimes reindeer like this little fellow.
Size – He measures approx 11cm long nose to bum (not including tail) and 12cm high from the tip of his antlers to the bottom of his leg. The string length is approx 17cm.
All my needle felted items are very solidly felted with carefully added details. As such, each takes a very long time to make, the hanging deer and reindeer each take about 4 hours to make at the felting stage. That is not including the time spent shearing the sheep, washing the wool, carding, dyeing or spinning the little legs!
One of the first needle felted animals I ever made was a big white reindeer with fiddly wire legs, I can’t tell you how many countless hours went into making him but it was all worth it and I still treasure him now. Ever since then the deer have been one of my favourite and most popular creatures to needle felt. Initially, I started making them freestanding with rustic wooden legs and then in 2020 I made some dangly wool legs and a string to hand on the Christmas tree. They take an awful long time to make and so I never make large numbers of them, as such they very rarely make it onto the website as they are often snapped up beforehand.
Please note – This is NOT a toy. It has been created for display and decoration purposes only. It is made from small needle felted wool and wood pieces and hairy textured wool and contains a fine wire in the antlers so could pose a hazard for babies or small children. Please do not give to children under 3 years old.
I always make every effort to show the true colours of items in my photos and website photos are never enhanced but sometimes colours may vary due to different monitor settings and lighting.

We keep a well-loved, high welfare flock of pet and rescue sheep on the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales. Our sheep are a part of the family and each is known by name. All our wool and makes are vegetarian-friendly as we do not breed or sell sheep for the meat market and our sheep live out their natural lives with us. I am a full-time mum and shepherdess. In my (none existent!) free time I make things from wool from the sheep in order to sustain them.
