Viking Wool Collar – Wilma
Viking wool collar handcrafted using Wilma’s shaggy wild fleece. This is a large size collar that extends down the back it is a bit of a cape/collar hybrid designed to keep out the cold and look amazing. Made entirely by sheep and hand from natural wool. The felted underside is thick and inlaid with a pretty design made from hand-spun yarn carefully worked into the felt. The inner edge of the collar has been hand-stitched with handspun yarn and two lengths of matching felted cord are attached to each side enabling you to securely fasten the collar and adding to its beautiful wild design. A very unique special piece made with love and care that will keep you warm in the wilderness and make a statement at ceremonies, celebrations and festivals. It is perfect for weddings, vikings, halloween costumes, cosplay and fancy dress.
It is important to me to know where every part of my crafts comes from and I am always open and honest with you lot too. The curly fleece used to make this collar comes from Wilma the Greyface Dartmoor sheep. The other woolly elements come from other sheep in the flock, Alice, Norbert, Lily and Daffodil have all contributed. Everything is made by my own hands and the sheep here.
Size: A large size collar that will fit most if not all adults. Please see the last two photos for some approximate measurements.
Wool texture: The feel of this fleece is hairy and coarse. The underside felt may feel prickly where the base of the locks have worked through the felt, this means it is well felted.
Colour: Mostly creamy white with light grey decoration on the underside felt.
VM(aka hay/grass seeds etc): I have done my very best to remove any remnants of the Welsh hillside from this collar. However, you may still find the odd little bit of dried leaf and grass seeds as this is a natural handmade piece.
All felted fleece pieces moult or shed to some degree some more than others. With this particular fleece collar from Wilma there is moderate hairloss this is the nature of coarse hairy fleeces.
All my sheep are hand-shorn by me with traditional blade shears taking great care not to harm the sheep or fleece…
This is a completely handmade product with almost every element created by myself andWilma and the flock at our farm in Wales. The sale of it directly sustains the sheep and enables them to live out their whole lives here munching away growing beautiful wool. You can’t get more ethical than that.
If you have any questions or queries at all please send me a message I will be happy to help.

We keep a well-loved, high welfare flock of pet and rescue sheep on the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales. Our sheep are a part of the family and each is known by name. All our wool and makes are vegetarian-friendly as we do not breed or sell sheep for the meat market and our sheep live out their natural lives with us. I am a full-time mum and shepherdess. In my (none existent!) free time I make things from wool from the sheep in order to sustain them.
